As that reviewer mentioned, it is really seems too hard to close and not really acceptable (have to use one hand to hold the drive and the other to give the drawer a shove closed). Really have to 'slam' it closed or it just doesn't catch. As another reviewer noted this line of drives is VERY hard to close. If you need a drive to use daily, spend a little more on a different model. So my advice: buy it and keep it in your laptop bag or on a shelf if you are only planning to use it occasionally. I can't be too upset because it was inexpensive, and does exactly what I purchased it to do. I have to use something like a thin plastic guitar pick and slide it between the drawer and the case to flex the case enough to allow the drawer to close. However, just as some other customers have pointed out, the drive won't close! The case around the drive interferes with the drawer mechanism sliding back in.
I could then copy everything from those discs without errors. The drive actually worked just like I was hoping it would - with this drive I was able to read several DVDs that my internal optical drive just gives up on and spits out.

I was a little put out to notice that it requires two USB ports, but that's a pretty minor inconvenience, since my Mac Pro has two on the front panel. So I decided I'd spend a small amount on what is basically a laptop DVD drive in a case and see if it would work to read those bad discs.

I have noticed that my PC laptops seem to do better at reading damaged or poorly manufactured discs. I replaced it once years ago, but don't really want to replace it again because I'm not sure how much longer I'm going to keep the computer.

Or, explain the supply issues right on the product page and let people know that you have no idea when the product will be available? I am guessing that Covid has seriously changed the company's customer service capabilities for the negative. I am now looking for alternative Mac product suppliers since my old go-to source is no longer reliable. Not at all what I expected based on my past experience.
It was a very disappointing and less than optimal customer experience. It was explained to me that they couldn't get all the parts needed to sell these drives, so I had to make a purchase of an older style tray drive they had in stock to enable me to complete the work I needed to do. Rating: 1/5 I Never Received It OctoAfter waiting for weeks, this item never arrived and I had to contact the sales department about it.
